I had a scare with one of my TiVos this morning, I thought the modem on it was fried! The Series 1 TiVo units have a tendency to quit updating due to modems going bad, and I thought that had happened to mine, but turning off the dial-tone detection fixed the problem, so hopefully it was just that chip that went bad, and the unit will continue to function for some time.

After I got it working again, i spent the afternoon watching Path To War, a great film that HBO made about LBJ and the escalation of the Vietnam war, if you have HBO, it's very well done and definitely worth watching.

It's a lazy Saturday, and I'm lacking the ambition to do anything but watch TV and filddle with various computers. We close on the new house on Monday at noon, and while I probably should be packing, I don't feel like having to make my way around boxes until we get moved in. My current plan is to start moving all the small things over on Monday night, and doing so all week. Hopefully, my friends will be showing up on Saturday the 15th to move the big stuff. I figure if I already have all the small things moved, we should be able to move the big stuff in a matter of a couple of hours, then feast and rest for the remainder of the day. According to the international code of moving etiquette, I'm supplying beer and food to all those who are going to help me.
