It's been almost a year since I wrote my iBook review, back at my old weblog. I think I'm going to do a follow-up, and post it here. I'll call it "A Year with iBook" and address a lot of the things I mentioned as liking or disliking in my initial review. My old review is the number one result for "iBook Review" at Google, and looking at my referer logs, I still get a lot of hits from people who find it that way. I e-mailed the Apple person in charge of PR for the iBook, to see if I could get some materials, or maybe even a loaner machine of the newest revision to use, but I'm guessing I won't even hear back from them, since I don't work for a magazine or tech web site.
Update: I was wrong, I did hear back, but of course I didn't get a loaner:

Hello Seth,
Congratulations on such a successful posting. Unfortunately, we do not
have a unit to provide you but there is plenty of information about the
new line up on the Apple web site (www.apple.com).
Thanks for you support of Apple products.

Okay, it's sad day when even a police dog can be accused of racial profiling. It looks to me like the dog was released accidentally, was confused, and went after the wrong person, lacking instructions from the officer who handles it. The mother blames the dog, calling him racist, when maybe she should be blaming herself for letting her 9-year-old hang around with drug dealers.
The house has closed, and we've already moved 3 car-fulls of stuff into it. My plan is to get all of the small-ish stuff moved this week, and then move the big stuff on Saturday when I have help (and a moving van). The phone was hooked up today, but the house is equipped with two built-in rotary wall phones. I wonder how many people younger than me will stare at them, unable to comprehend how they work. The phone lines seem to be at least adequate for dial-up use, I was able to connect to AOL at 44,000 baud with my iBook this morning, the cable modem won't be hooked up until Friday.
