If everything has gone according to plan, this site should now have an RSS feed for those using news aggregators, such as Radio Userland, or the excellent NetNewsWire Lite.
Vonage: An experiment in Voice over IP
As an experiment, today I ordered service and equipment from Vonage. I'm going to try out their $20/month plan, and if I like it, I'm going to convert my TiVos to using ethernet and disconnect Qwest from my house. For those unfamiliar with the technology, Vonage gives you a Cisco device that lets you use your high-speed internet connection to place your telephone calls, and it's cheaper than your phone line is. They currently have 2 plans, $20/month for 500 outgoing minutes and unlimited incoming minutes, or $40 a month for unlimited calling both ways. I am going to have a California area code, however, so that will be strange...
Logitech IM companion - Finally able to use a different port!
Tonight, I'm playing around with the new version of Logitech's Instant Messger Companion, it lets those of us with Logitech brand webcams easily stream video to people using AOL or MSN Instant Messaging programs. This new version finally lets me change the port it uses, as my ISP blocks port 80. Port 1976 is wide open, however.
