iRecall
HP would like to dismiss the people clamoring for a recall of iPaq products as whiners, looking for a free handout, but my experience is that their complaints are justified. UNI bought me an iPaq 3870 back in May, bundled with my new PC from Dell, out of the box, I discovered it had the backlight issue that has plagued many of the devices, but decided I could live with that. After using it for about a month, it stopped charging, now I have 4 different ways I can charge my iPaq, and none of them would work. So, I sent the unit in to Compaq for repair, and they replaced the motherboard. They sent my unit back to me, and while it would now charge, it would lock up each time I'd turn it off when plugged into one of the expansion packs. So, back it went to Compaq for another round of repairs, after once being told that I just needed to update the firmware, even though I'd already told the tech I was running 2.20, the latest version, then he insisted I find another expansion pack to test the unit with, so I borrowed a friends, and was able to duplicate the problem. It's now working fine, but I'm nervous about what's going to happen next summer, when the unit is no longer under warranty.

Seth's PocketPC Themes
A few weeks ago, I made up a couple of themes for PocketPC devices. First, I made one for my alma mater, Iowa State University, and then one for my current employer, the University of Northern Iowa. I think the UNI one turned out better, because I had more practice by then, so I'll have to make a version 2.0 of the ISU one soon.

And if you don't have a PocketPC device, you should get one, or beg your employer for one, because they're very handy. I like using mine with an 802.11b card, I can wander around my house and check my e-mail from every room. It's also a fun distraction when you're stuck with time on your hands at the doctor's office, getting your oil changed, in an airport, etc.
