Tree Surgery
With the help of my parents, I spent much of today removing two 25 foot tall evergreens from the front corners of our house.
Here are two "Before" pictures:

And two "After" pictures:

I think it looks a lot better, as those ugly trees were too close to the house. Now comes the hard part, what do I do with it all? I put this sign by the stuff that was suitable for burning in fireplaces. I don't have one, and none of my neighbors do either, but they all assured me that putting this sign on it would make the wood disappear very quickly:

There's a big pile of wothless evergreen brush you can't see in the picture above, and it will probably remain there until I get some more estimates to have it, and the stumps, removed. The estimate I got tonight was $200, which is about $100 more than I want to pay, but then again, I've never had any of this sort of work done before, so perhaps my expectations are unreasonable. There's another tree guy coming tomorrow morning to give me an estimate, hopefully his is a little cheaper.
Update: I found another guy, who agreed to remove the two stumps for $80, and decided to haul away the brush myself. Apparently, you can take it to the city transfer station on Mondays for free. Mark has graciously agreed to help me, and to bring his pickup along to haul it, so it's worth saving the $100!

I was just browsing my logs, and noticed that this site was linking to my article about RSS feeds. I'll certainly have to keep an eye on this site, as I'd love to see another RSS Newsreader on Windows, though I haven't tried Headline Viewer yet. It's on my list of things to do next week, after the wedding.
