Telephone fun
I had some fun with a caller from AT&T last night on the phone:
*ring* *ring*
Me: Hello?
*pause*
AT&T Guy: Uh, hello, Mr. Bockleman?
Me: That's BOKELMAN, but yes, it's me.
Guy: I'm calling tonight from AT&T, we just want to alert you to our new lower prices on long distance.
Me: Hmmmm..
Guy: Do you make many long distance calls?
Me: Nope, none, in fact.
Guy: (somewhat thrown off by this answer) Uh, none? Never?
Me: Nope, I use my SprintPCS cell phone for all my long distance.
Guy: Well, maybe you'd like to switch to AT&T, in case a friend uses your phone to make a call?
Me: Nope, I stay with Sprint long distance because I'm earning frequent flier miles for keeping them 18 months, and I only have 3 months to go to get another 10,000 miles.
Guy: Oh, well, would you like to switch to us anyway?
Me: For the non-existent savings, since I don't make long distance calls from my home phone?
Guy: Uh, well, you might use the phone in the future.
Me: Or, I could take the miles from Sprint, which will put me over 50,000, enough for two free plane tickets.
Guy: (stammering) Uhhh...well...
Me: Please place me on your "Do-Not-Call" list
*click*
Wedding Videos
My little iBook finally finished processing a couple of copies of the wedding video. I messed up the audio at the start of the small version, but it'll take another hour of compression to produce a cleaner version, but this will give you the important bits. You'll want QuickTime 6 to view these, if you don't already have it. The video is about 23 minutes long.
Try the large version first, to get a feel for your speed, it's much more watchable than the small version, even if it takes 3 times as long to download.
Small version (32 MB)
Large version (102 MB)
Huge version (400 MB)
You're obviously going to want a fast connection to view these, neither one of them is really handy for modem viewers, as even the small version would take a couple of hours to download at 56K. Time to get yourself some broadband, folks!
