No Coolpix for you
Today, I wrote an e-mail to Thom Hogan, who runs a great Nikon web site, asking him when and if his Nikon Coolpix Guide was going to be published, as I'd ordered a copy back on February 25. It was supposed to be published at the end of March, and Amazon has continually delayed the suposed publishing date of the book since then. Here is his reply:
You'll notice I took information about the book off my site some time
ago. That's because Silver Pixel's rights to publish the book expired
back in February 2002.

Basically, when Tiffen bought Silver Pixel, everything went south very
quickly (it didn't help that it was just before the recession, but that
wasn't the only reason they had problems). Since then, getting ANYTHING
out of the organization has been almost impossible and most of the staff
left for other pastures. I'm still waiting for royalty statements owed
from this time last year on Nikon Flash Guide (they finally got around
to doing so with the Nikon Field Guide). This, despite letters directly
to Steven Tiffen about the poor manner in which authors are being
handled.

As for the Coolpix book, when I get time to update it I'll put it up on
my site as a free download. If you have an order placed somewhere,
cancel it.
