This story began in the summer of 1999 when Holly and her friend Shannon Cody were desperately looking for a place to live before fall semester began at the University of Northern Iowa.  Seth had graduated from Iowa State University in May 1999, had begun working at UNI's College of Humanities and Fine Arts (where Shannon was a student worker), and had moved into one half of his boss's horribly expensive duplex.  Seth took pity on the soon-to-be-homeless girls, as they were girls, after all, and he was happy to split the rent.  And you know the rest--well, few people actually know the rest of the story, but how interesting would we be if we told all of you?

The two moved to separate households and then back in together once again.  During a Thanksgiving trip to Las Vegas, on the return trip from Disneyland, Seth proposed.  He insists it was Holly's reward for riding Space Mountain without crying.
