Polaroid says not to shake your images. Here's a better idea, throw your nasty, wasteful, expensive, and shoddy Polaroid in the trash and get a digital camera instead. I'd much rather look at even a 1 megapixel image than the blurry mess that is a Polaroid shot.
I'm using the Nessus scanner to detect machines on campus that are vulnerable to last weeks ASN flaw in Windows. I tried last week, but the only plugin available then required registry access, which isn't very helpful on campus. There's a new plugin available now, however, that checks via an NTLM login. What we've discovered, is several machines that were updated via WindowsUpdate weren't really updated after all. Their registries think that the patch was installed, but the actual file wasn't replaced, so we're back to manually installing the patch on those machines.
The BBC is running an article about a new drug that may eliminate the hidden reserves of the HIV virus in people who have undetectably low levels of the virus. It targets the T cells of the immune system, and in effect, wipes them out in an effort to destroy the places that HIV may be lurking. Think of it as reformatting your immune system...
Well, our Oracle Calendar 9.0.4.1.1 (no, I'm not making that up) media showed up this morning, so the battle continues. I'm rebuilding the server right now, since my last attempt pretty well polluted that install of the operating system, I had at least 10 new services installed by Oracle, so I decided to wipe it and start clean again.
Reading over this story about Canadians who are upset about Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's bit in Quebec, I was struck by a few thoughts. First, it was damned funny, and when Triumph did the same thing to Star Wars fans, no one got their Yoda-patterned undies in a knot. Secondly, last time I checked, the French-Canadians are not a separate race, which would seem to be a requirement before they could label Triumph's comments as "racist". Thirdly, it's a friggin' puppet! And last, but not least, the irony of Francophones being upset at the rude behavior of an American is not lost on me.
