I voted this morning, it

I voted this morning, it was the first time voting in my new precinct, and of course I don't vote at the church which is literally 75 yards south of my house, I have to drive 2 miles east and vote at the Orchard Hill school. The polling place seemed steadily busy, but there wasn't really a line. I voted for the Democrats in the big races, Harkin for Senate, Hutchinson for House, Vilsack for Governor, then voted Libertarian for everything else, with the exception of our State representative. Willard Jenkins is the Republican incumbent for Cedar Falls, and he voted with the rest of the Republicans to cut the budget for UNI and the other state Universities. Hmm, cutting the budget and jobs at one of the biggest employers in your district is not exactly representational governing, nor is it politically smart. So, I voted for his Democratic opponent.

Wow, I didn't realize Amazon

Wow, I didn't realize Amazon was so strict about their coupon codes, I posted one on my site with my link to the router deal last week, and I just got this e-mail from them about it today. You can easily find the codes over at SlickDeals or Fatwallet if you're still looking for them, at least. Here's the entry from my logs, looks like they have people searching out the codes via Google. It also looks like Natalie needs to update her web browser to IE 6.0 Service Pack 1:

Here's the e-mail they sent me:

Tonight, we're off to see

Tonight, we're off to see The Capitol Steps at the GBPAC. I'm somewhat amazed that UNI managed to book them two days before election day, talk about timely! We spent yesterday in Manson & Fort Dodge visiting Holly's family, and her step-grandmother, who's in the hospital with congestive heart failure. She's off the vent now, and out of the ICU, and I think she'll probably be home in another day or two, as Al would say, she's on the mend.

This afternoon, we attempted to rake up all the leaves on our lawn, and soon discovered we had a lot more leaves than we'd imagined. The big Maple tree in our front yard had buried the lawn under several inches of big green leaves that are far too green to burn. We filled our 93 gallon yard waste container to the top, and after that gets emptied tomorrow, I'm sure we'll fill it again.

The Check Engine light came

The Check Engine light came on in the new car the other night, as Holly was coming home from work. I took it in to the Toyota dealership, as the car is under warranty, and they told me that the computer said my gas cap was faulty, so they replaced it. How much money would it cost to add an LCD display to the car that gave me a 4 digit error code, telling me what was wrong with my car? Of course then the dealership wouldn't be able to charge people for these stupid things. I'm glad my car is under warranty until 2007.
