Since I've already had about four people ask me, I am indeed at work today. This isn't a University Holiday, so we all have to show up, and the kids still have to go to class. I guess the mail sorters get the day off though, as there's no mail for them to sort....
Holly and I went to see Million Dollar Baby tonight. What a great movie. I've seen the Aviator, and between the two, it's no contest, my vote would go to Million Dollar Baby. I should still get to see Ray before the awards, and I might make it to Sideways, but Finding Neverland has left the area... I don't want to give anything away, so I won't say too much about the movie, other than to say I completely wasn't expecting what I got. I knew there was some kind of unexpected plot turn in the movie, as I'd seen it vaguely mentioned. I thought I might know what it was, and boy, was I wrong. I think everyone leaving the theatre was stunned.
One of the Computer Science faculty, Eugene Wallingford, also has a blog. I should have noticed this sooner, since he commented on a post of mine a few weeks ago, but I'm just now getting around to cleaning out my inbox.
Fellow UNI IT guy Paul Huber has started a weblog. He's a Macintosh guru from the College of Humanities & Fine Arts.
It looks like I found a wireless card that does work with 802.1X (other than Apple-branded cards) for users of older Macintoshes. The MacWireless 11g Card works fine in a student's Lombard with OS X 10.3. This is the same student who had tried the misleading D-Link card in the past, and she bought this one on my suggestion: So, if you've got any users out there who have pre-AirPort Macs that they want to get on an 802.1X network, this is the only solution I've found so far, it uses the integrated Apple AirPort drivers, so setup is identical to the AirPort cards. We're using PEAP and MSCHAPv2 here, and so far it seems to be working great, even if this 333Mhz G3 is a bit slow.
